My god I be this was an epic party.

This post might well look completely unrelated to the world of textile crafts, but this is my blog and I have had Champagne with my supper, so you better indulge me.
Yesterday morning I was sat on a plane at some ungodly hour of the morning, waiting to take off.
Previously I had taken my own sweet time choosing which paper to buy with my Mini Eggs in the newsagent, knowing it had to fill in the time left in my journey after you have subtracted a good snooze and the latest episode of The Bugle.
I started reading the front page, turned to page two and boy was I glad I had bought The Independent. For this was staring at me:
I quickly fired off an email to a friend, asking to buy me a copy of the paper on Sunday (today), then I switched to aircraft mode and settled for my journey.
Incidentally, this is the same friend with whom on Wednesday I established that I have “three favourite topics of conversation: crafts, Rufus Wainwright and mental health. Not necessarily in this order”.
This morning I couldn’t resist and I went online to read the article.
There is plenty that makes me happy, lots of intelligent quotableness, and one paragraph that made me laugh so hard there was coffee everywhere.
Rufus is talking about his decision to have a baby with Lorca Cohen, Leonard Cohen’s daughter:
When I was done laughing I quickly sent a screenshot to the same friend who bought me the paper. His reply came quick:
And so did mine:
Feel free to harbour a slight suspicion that Leonard Cohen’s sister might have fancied Rufus herself - she wouldn’t be the first woman to do that.
This was further proof that I have some awesome friends. But more importantly it made laugh out loud about one of the most painful things that ever happened in my life.
All I can say is Thanks Rufus! and In your face, 2009! In! Your! Face! Life goes on and I win.
Because I do.

Awesome #knitting tip:
Knitting tip for ya kiddos to keep the outside of your centerpull ball from unwinding: Cut up some tall socks you’ve got with holes in them to like six inch tubes, cover your center pull, profit.
Also means I get to keep using the socks in prints I love even after they’ve got holes.
